The Process
We do things the old school way.
WALK-INS WELCOME. OVERNIGHT SERVICE AVAILABLE.
It all starts when you walk in. We take the time to get to know your skiing style, experience, and what you want out of each day on the mountain—whether you’re a weekend warrior or a seasoned pro. No cookie-cutter tunes here; each setup gets our full attention and a custom approach. This isn’t about running skis through a machine and calling it good.
We call it “The Waxroom Way”—a level of care and precision straight from the world of World Cup racing. Curtis has handpicked and trained our team to bring these high standards to every ski and board we tune. Many of our technicians have even gone on to tune for national teams around the globe.
With us, it’s about more than just perfecting your gear—it’s about making every run your best yet. Once you’re here, you’re part of the Waxroom family.

Complete base & edge prep finished with "Wax of the day". Base Structure on the Wintersteiger Omega RS350 stone grinder. This pattern was designed & tested, by 6-time Olympic Wax Technician & Waxroom owner, Curtis Bacca. These grinds are proven with Gold Medals at the Olympics, X-Games, and victories at the World Cup in both skiing & snowboarding. After the base structure is established, all edge work is done by hand with custom base & side angles, then polished to a mirror finish to reduce friction and ensure smooth, clean turns., de-tuned and hot waxed to the specific conditions (snow, air, humidity & type of snow crystals)

Custom tune to each customer's specific skiing ability & type of skis. The base is ground with a stone to create a fine structure tailored to specific snow conditions. Different structures are used for warm, wet snow versus cold, dry snow.

Hot Wax Temperature-Specific Waxing: The wax is chosen based on detailed weather forecasts, snow temperature, and humidity and experience to match the conditions of the day. After waxing, the ski base is scraped, hand-brushed, and then roto-brushed to polish to remove excess wax and enhance glide to snow conditions.
-
The thermal environment allows the wax to saturate deeply into the pores of the ski base, which is crucial for creating a durable, long-lasting glide. The heat ensures that the wax is evenly distributed across the entire base, minimizing the risk of uneven patches that can affect performance. The result is a ski or snowboard base that remains well-lubricated, offering improved glide and better protection against the wear and tear of abrasive snow conditions. The benefits are durability: The deep penetration of the wax means it lasts longer, and Ensures a smooth, consistent glide across different types of snow.

Install ski bindings at the correct position and calibrate release settings correctly.
Binding Mount (Drill): Securely mount bindings using traditional drilling techniques.
Binding Mount (System): Install using integrated mounting systems for compatible skis. Binding Adjustment: Adjust existing bindings to accommodate changes in boots, skier weight, or ability level.

We offer many snow & temperature specific base structure stone grinds. Our most popular structure is the “BMT” named after the Boulder Mountain Tour. This proven structure is an early to mid-winter fine structure that works extremely well in cold, dry, low humidity snow of Idaho, Wyoming, Utah & Colorado. It even skis well in spring freeze-thaw conditions. We use two state of the art Wintersteiger Stone Grinders, the (Omega RS350 & Sigma RS350)
